FanSaloon Mid-Week NBA Review

This week has been a very stressful one for daily fantasy NBA players. We have had players lose games to suspension and coaches deciding to rest stars. We’ve also had injuries, overtime games and a few blowouts. This has led daily fantasy owners to mix and match to try and find the best possible lineups.

The Nikola Pekovic experiment took a hit Monday when he cost daily fantasy players by only playing 15 minutes after spraining his ankle. Fantasy owners who have been depending on him because of his value were sent into an immediate tailspin and most came up short that evening.  Keep an eye on Wednesday’s lineups to see who picks up his minutes.

Jeremy Lin continues his impressive rise to stardom. I do think daily fantasy owners may want to take a hard look at him going forward as Carmelo Anthony will be looking to take over the scoring load, but I will definitely be keeping Lin in my daily fantasy basketball lineup.  Kyrie Irving has been showing why he was drafted first overall this year, as he has been hot of late. The same also goes for his teammate Antwan Jamison.  The future doesn’t look to bad in Cleveland, even without LeBron James.

Speaking of LeBron, he took a backseat to Dwayne Wade last night, who ended up with 52 daily fantasy points.  With the All-Star Game looming this weekend it is a great time for the real players and daily fantasy owners to take a break from the daily grind.  Remember to play daily basketball at FanSaloon.com and good luck!

FanSaloon Weekend Daily Fantasy Basketball Recap

Wow, was I worried when I saw only four NBA games on the schedule for Saturday. I thought, there goes the daily fantasy basketball for the weekend, boy was I wrong. Saturday gave us a nice average dose of daily fantasy basketball at FanSaloon.com with a chance to relax. It was much needed because yesterday’s performances were amazing and many players put up big numbers in daily fantasy basketball.

Let’s start with Kevin Durant‘s 51-point performance, tack on his assists, rebounds, steals and blocks and you have a cold blooded 65 daily fantasy points.

The value play of the day went to Ersan Ilyasova who hails from Turkey, he put up 29 points and 25 rebounds en route to a 57 fantasy point performance in daily fantasy basketball, and at less than $7,500 fantasy bucks, he was a steal.

Jeremy Lin topped the 50 point mark with 51 fantasy points, and would have had 60 or more if he could cut down on those turnovers. Look for Lin to take a step back tonight with Carmelo Anthony scheduled to return.

The Miami Heat duo of Dwyane Wade and LeBron James both topped 40 again, but Russell Westbrook also had a huge day despite his teammate the Durantula going off.

The weekend was great and this week should be even better for daily fantasy basketball at FanSaloon.com. With Spring Training camps opening today, daily fantasy baseball at fansaloon.com is right around the corner. Good luck!!!

FanSaloon NBA Daily Fantasy Rewind

Last night was a very very productive night for daily fantasy NBA. We had several high scoring nights which meant good high scoring games at FanSaloon.com.

Kobe Bryant put up a ridiculous 58 daily fantasy points last night. On most nights that is enough to carry a daily fantasy team to victory, but not on Friday. That is because there were many, many more high scoring performances Friday night. Dwight Howard topped the 50 point daily fantasy scoring mark with 51. Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic had 49 daily fantasy points, 2 behind Howard but a better value because he is about $8,500 cheaper according to FanSaloon.com. So if you were able to get Kobe and Pekovic last night, you were in good shape.

Kevin Love also topped the 50 point daily fantasy mark again with 51, so that was 100 total daily fantasy point between the two Minnesota big men. Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James both topped the 40 point mark with 41 and 40 respectively. Rodney Stuckey and Tayshaun Prince were good value plays both getting 81 total fantasy points (41 and 40) between them.

Many players scored in the mid to high 30s, making it a huge fantasy NBA night. Gustavo Ayon had a good night for a value player, as did Corey Brewer, Marco Belinelli, and Jeremy Lin, who continues to be a good value. Only four NBA games Saturday but that makes daily fantasy picks at FanSaloon.com a little more simple. Good luck!!!

And Down Goes (insert name here)……NBA Injuries Galore

Many are attributing the recent plethora of injuries around the NBA to the lock-out and shortened schedule.  The players had a very condensed training camp and limited time to prepare for the season, that combined with tons of back to backs and a few three games in three night stretches, I can see how stars are dropping like flies.  However, those who did stay in top shape by playing all summer and conditioning cough, cough…..LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, are having monster daily fantasy basketball seasons and monster NBA seasons.

In the past few days we have  seen Chauncy Billups go down for the season, the Nuggets lose Danillo Galinari for a month, and the Knicks Carmelo Anthony and Bobcats Gerald Henderson are out for at least a few weeks.  Brandon Knight broke his nose and remains day to day and Amare Stoudamire will also be day-to-day after losing his brother in a car accident early Monday. With all of these injuries the questions is: What does this mean for you in the daily fantasy basketball world?  It means look to these teams’ benches for some good value picks over the next couple weeks.  I expect Randy Foye to fill in for Billups, but look to see Mo Williams minutes increase as well.  Landry Fields will get a few more minutes, but probably way more shots and looks for Bill Walker because of the minutes left by Carmelo’s absence.  The nuggets are really deep and the bigger question there isn’t who gets Gallinari’s minutes, it is who get his shots.  Good luck in your daily fantasy basketball leagues.

Big Men Preview: Week of Feb 6th-12th

This week’s daily fantasy basketball has some interesting match-ups, which makes for some interesting puzzles to work out.  But I will attempt to offer a bit of help.  As I said in my previous post (Guard Preview), when Kobe Bryant is in the lineup you play him, because you never know when he could erupt and carry your daily fantasy basketball team.  There are also a few forwards and centers that can carry a lineup to daily fantasy dominance.

LeBron James is one guy that not only can carry his team, he can also carry your daily fantasy basketball team.  He is almost guaranteed to get you atleast 40 daily fantasy points and has been getting between 50 and 60 on a consistent basis.  Imagine if he had to play all four quarters.  He only had 14 daily fantasy points in his last outing against Toronto, however the Miami Heat won by 1,000 points or so and LeBron got a much needed rest.

Kevin Durant is very similar to LeBronin that he is consistent in getting his 40 or so daily fantasy points per game, but he is also very good at going off for 50-60 once or twice a week.  He is a must have if he fits into your daily fantasy basketball bankroll.

Dwight Howard has proven time and time he is a must have at center when Orlando plays.  He is good for a consistent 40-50 fantasy points and can get beyond 80 as seen in the 81 point performance he had in daily fantasy basketball earlier this season.

For some reason I have not been sold on Kevin Love as a must have….I know, I must be crazy, right!!!  Here is my reasoning, he IS going to get you between 40-50 points consistently, BUT can he go crazy and score 50 points, have 13 rebounds and a couple assist, steals, and blocks to mix in, I don’t feel he can. Until he does, I would rather have LeBron or KD at a cheaper price for the simple fact that they can explode for 70 to 80 daily fantasy points at any time.  I DO however feel he is very good option because of his consistency, and is a must have if LeBron or KD have the night off.

On my list of value big men this week I have a couple of consistent double-double guys.  The first is Drew Gooden.  He has been piling up 20-30 point performances since Andrew Bogut went down and continues to be a good value.  I also love the way Jason Thompson has been playing for the Kings and love his price in daily fantasy as well.  I feel Serge Ibaka and Michael Beasley continue to be decent values in the middle price tier and can have top tier games from time to time because of Beasley’s ability to score and Ibaka’s knack for blocking shots.  I continue to like Nikola Pekovic and Byron Mullens as value centers when Howard is not available.   I hope you find your Fantasy value this week, good luck.
